UNITY’s Wellness Warrior app aims to promote healthier lifestyles among American Indian individuals through culturally sensitive approaches. The app comprises various sections, including a Wellness Tracker, Fitness time tracker, Culture-sharing platform focusing on Regional UNITY fires, and a project planning template. The app is structured to engage users through interactive challenges to attain the recognition of a “Wellness Warrior.”

The Wellness Tracker enables users to manually record and monitor their daily wellness activities on a sliding scale that encompasses four dimensions: mental, spiritual, physical, and social wellness. The Fitness Tracker is depicted in a circular scale resembling a clock, encouraging users to achieve 40 minutes of physical activity. Data from both trackers can be stored for users to keep track of their progress.

The app facilitates the sharing of traditional food recipes as a means of promoting healthier dietary habits and resources within a social setting. Users are encouraged to contribute by sharing photos and brief descriptions of cultural activities as part of the overarching Wellness Warrior Challenge. Moreover, it provides a user-friendly project-planning template to aid in local community project organization.

Upon successfully completing all challenges in each section, users accomplish the Wellness Warrior Challenge. In essence, the app is crafted to inspire Native People to take a more proactive role in enhancing their health, wellness, and lifestyle practices.
